Sector: Narrative (63 Mins)

Services: Sound Design & Mix

SYNOPSIS

Set against the haunting backdrop of the Yorkshire moors, the tortured relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff is one of the most enduring in English literature. Told from the point of view of Nelly the maid servant, the story explores the darker aspects of human nature; revenge, obsession and the brutal foces of nature, making it a trailblazing work in 19th-century literature.

SOUND DESIGN

The wild and windy moors shown in the chapter breaks allowed for plenty atmospheric sound design. There are no cutaways in this episode; the camera never strays from Robinson’s magnificient performance. This meant the sound design needed a lighter touch than other episodes, only supporting the story when absolutely necessary.
