SYNOPSIS
In 2024, Winsor & Newton and Paul Smith’s Foundation launched the International Art Prize. Six artists were selected, each working in the medium of drawing or painting.
Largely conducted through online interviews, the documentary explores the shared resonances and connections between artists from different cultures and backgrounds, and how art can help us see the world in new ways.
SOUND DESIGN
The interivews were recorded over zoom, so the audio quality was less than ideal. In some cases, there was background noise and the artist was quite distant from the mic. Thanks to the judicious use of modern plugins we were able to rescue audio that would previously have been unusable.
Additionally, we added some subtle background ambiences and foley effects to support the narrative. This was rounded off by a wonderful score by Joshua Mellard, which used the sound of paintbrushes as a compositional tool.
