SOUND DESIGN

The film exists in a kind of liminal world between genres. It is predominantly a family drama but with horror and dark comedy elements too. This allowed us to play with genre, particularly in the intro which utilises horror tropes. In other scenes we exaggerated the sounds, helping to emphasise the comedy. Overall though, the film is quite measured and deliberate, letting the relationship between the characters come to the fore. There was nothing to hide behind and every element needed to be carefully considered and mixed.
