Bury The Dogs

Childhood friends Ant and Emily drift apart, as Ant falls under the influence of the older Tosh.

Client: Cosmosquare Films / Beth Rowland

Sector: Narrative (13 Mins)

Services: Sound Design & Mix

SYNOPSIS

A gritty Northern drama, the style of the film is that of realism in concept and execution. As such, it was important for the sound design not to draw attention to itself for the majority of the film. The sound effects and foley are very much rooted in reality.

There are a couple of stylised sequences in the film and although we tried a few iterations of sound design in these, we decided to strip out most of these and let the score carry the scene.

SYNOPSIS

Old friends start to see cracks in their relationship, as Ant seeks to ingratiate himself with the much older Tosh. Ant has had a troubled upbringing and seems to be latching on to Tosh as a father figure, but the latter is a questionable and even toxic influence. Ant is desperate for Emily to meet Tosh, but when they are finally introduced we learn how far into the rabbit hole Ant has fallen.
