Client: Rural Media

Sector: Narrative / 3 x 2 Mins

Services: Sound Designer

SYNOPSIS

Each of the three short films is based on a short excerpt from a contemporary novel. All three have queer protagonists but are quite different in tone.

The Whale Tatoo is bleak and existential, Rosewater is bold and carefree, while In Memoriam is wistful and haunting.

SOUND DESIGN

The main focus of each was cleaning up and mixing the dialogue. Rosewater and In Memoriam both have underscore running through them, which did a lot of the heavy lifting sound-wise. The Whale Tattoo had no music track and was more involved in terms of sound design. We used a bed of waves and other sea-themed sounds, along with a discordant drone to produce an unsettling effect.

CREDITS
